Not really sure if this will help in your situation or not… but your problem sounds awfully familiar to something I was experiencing when getting disconnected from Guild Wars while playing. To make a long story short, this is what solved the issue:
Go into regedit (click start, run, type regedit, hit ok), then go into the tcpip parameters folder located at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters
Locate the key values on the right hand side named
DeadGWDetectDefault
EnableDeadGWDetect
And modify each of those values to 0 if they are currently set to 1
Exit the registry editor and restart the computer
Also, make sure that your router is set up as a DHCP server in the configuration settings. Might even want to run through the router setup installation CD to make sure it accepts auto-configuration settings. If using a program like zone alarm, make sure the router’s IP (usually 192.168.0.1) is listed in the trusted zone configuration settings. Also, might want to set up a password for your router if you haven’t already, instead of leaving on the default admin password.
On my router, Guild Wars seems to run better without making any changes to port forwarding or port triggering, but whatever. From my experience, it’s usually best that the server sets up port forwarding rules for the connecting clients.
If your ISP is blocking ports 6112 or 80 you might want to find that out also by giving them a call.

Is it the same problem as your previous thread, just a little down the page?
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10159894
Or is it a totally different error?

Cmon dude, if you want help you're going to have to help these people. Can you not give any other information other than GW 'stops' the internet? The fella in the other thread already told you why it's still happening. Many netgear routers don't like the way GW tickles their ports and thinks it's an attack.
Look, I had a Netgear router as well. Now GW worked fine if I was plugged into it, but when I connected to the wireless portion of the router, it shut GW down cold. After going through all the settings and getting it just the way Anet and Netgear specified to be able to run GW, it still didn't connect.
Not worth the trouble. Get another router.

Hmm, this is gonna sound dumb, but have you tried not using your router to see what happens?

So i guess that your router is also your modem. If it is indeed the case then just forget my suggestion, otherwise just connect your modem directly to your computer bypassing your router.

How do you connect to the 'modem thing' then if it's downstairs?

im not really sure what you mean with all that "things", cant you look "things" up in a dictionary or on babelfish, because now it is not very clear what you mean. I dont know, but if you modem is downstairs and your router is upstairs, take out the wire of your router and put it in the pc, if your wire isnt long enough, maybe you could cary your pc to a place were you can put it in the modem directly

Is this your router you're connecting to or is it somebody else's? Because you're being awfully sketchy about what's going on, and giving few (if any) details as to how things are configured. Not really sure why you would need to find out inbound connection port information, when you're trying to connect to guild wars on an outbound connection. Can you run a -diag switch on your short cut and post it up here, or maybe at the command prompt do a ipconfig /all?
